Members of an American scientific research base in Antarctica find themselves combating a parasitic extraterrestrial entity capable of precisely replicating its victims. They quickly learn that this work would be tougher than they imagined, since they don't sure which members of the team have already been absorbed and their original site paranoia threatens to break them apart.
My Feelings On The Thing: With its very violent and realistic visuals, John Carpenter's "The Thing," a box office flop from 1982, sent reviewers scurrying for the hills. Most of the life lessons you might take from this picture are best avoided. It is still held up to this day as an example of why physical effects hold up considerably better over time than CGI. Unless you like spending time in prison, I guess.
